The rotary throttle and brake levers are the signal-input components of the controller. The handlebar throttle signal is the driving signal for the rotation of the electric vehicle motor, telling the controller how much power the rider is requesting.
The controller is the brain of the system. It reads inputs from the throttle, the pedal-assist sensor and the brake levers, then regulates the current delivered from the battery to the motor accordingly. Modern controllers also provide over-current, over-voltage and under-voltage protection to safeguard the battery.
A well-tuned power system feels natural: assistance ramps in smoothly as you pedal, cuts instantly when you brake, and holds a steady speed on the flats. This coordination between throttle, sensors, controller and motor is what separates a great e-bike from an average one.
Regular inspection of the wiring, connectors and controller ensures consistent power delivery and a long service life for the whole drivetrain.
